Situational Judgment Assessments
Situational judgment tests (SJTs) assess a candidate’s ability to make sound decisions by presenting them with common scenarios they may encounter in their job role. The candidate is then asked to select the most appropriate course of action from a list of options. SJTs measure a candidate’s problem-solving skills and ability to use judgment in their daily tasks and interactions.
Research on SJTs has shown that they are highly effective predictors of job performance, provide additional validity over cognitive ability and personality tests, and do not have a negative impact on minority candidates. Furthermore, job applicants generally have positive perceptions of SJTs, seeing them as relevant and highly job-related.
